I’m a new Kindle 2 owner. This review is from the perspective of a new parent. I often find myself trapped with the baby asleep on me. The Kindle can be operated easily with one hand, so I can read a book or newspaper without disturbing the little sleeping one. This would not be possible with a regular printed newspaper or with most books. Plus I can switch back and forth between different newspapers, magazines and books instantly. As most parents know, a new baby means a hefty increase in your family’s carbon footprint. Our local newspaper was really piling up and I was feeling guilty about the paper waste. No such waste with the Kindle. Cancelled the local paper delivery, now get the NYT every day, and don’t worry if I skip an issue. It gets archived, then eventually goes away. No paper to recycle.
